Connect to End COVID-19

Some people may be more at risk of developing Long COVID. Higher-risk groups include the following:

  • People who did not get a COVID-19 vaccine.
  • People who experienced severe COVID-19 infection.
  • People with underlying health conditions.
  • People who experienced multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS) before or after COVID-19 infection.
  • People from racial or ethnic minority groups.
  • People with disabilities.

Social workers are committed to the well-being of all people. They have long advocated to ensure equity in services. They assist families with referrals to community agencies and break down barriers to access to care.  Disinformation continues to pose a significant threat to the public fully understanding the severe risks posed by COVID-19 and to vaccination uptake, including among those who are at greatest risk of severe illness. The Connect to End COVID-19 section of the NASW website has tips for social workers on how to discuss COVID-19 vaccination concerns with families.
