Biography

Lance Clemsen has been teaching the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual class since 2005. His professional career began in 1985 providing behavioral health therapy and evaluations in public, health care, and private practice settings in California and Iowa.

Clemsen's daytime job is as part of the emergency medicine psychiatry staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and founder/chairperson of the UIHC disruptive patient and visitors program. Clemsen was previously the director of UIHC’s psychiatry clinics and was previously appointed to the Iowa Board of Social Work. He is currently the emergency behavioral health representative to the Iowa Hospital Association. 

Clemsen attended Simpson College and received my MS in social work from Columbia University.
