Morgan Stangl obtained her master’s and bachelor’s degrees at the the UI School of Social Work; as well as her bachelor’s degree in Mandarin Language and Literature studies at the U of I. Her primary research interests involve examining the role of multi-cultural competency in higher education student services and counseling services. She has worked with the Center for Diversity and Enrichment to examine the effectiveness of the Iowa Edge Program. This early orientation program serves first generation, LGBTQ+, and historically marginalized global majority students. She is also interested in examining the differences of social work practice and education in China.

Morgan lives with her family in Cedar Rapids with her two mini- dachshunds. She loves to bake, take walks, and binge watch Law and Order. Her favorite foods include dumplings, pickles, and ice cream.
