The Sioux City MSW program is perfect for working professionals who want the quality and reputation of the Iowa MSW but want to continue working in their local communities in the Siouxland region and neighboring communities.  In recognition of the unique landscape of this region, students from Nebraska, South Dakota, and Minnesota pay the same rate as those from Iowa.

The program is designed to develop community as students move through the program together in a cohort model offered every three years.  It can be completed in 3 years (Regular Standing) or 2 years for those students with a BSW (Advanced Standing).  Students can choose between Clinical and Leadership Specializations as well as work towards the School Social Work Endorsement.

It is designed to offer the best of both worlds including in person classes as well as live, online sessions.  Most required courses are taught by University of Iowa faculty or alumni who live in the Siouxland region and take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings either in person or in a live online setting. Electives are taught by faculty and adjuncts from across the University of Iowa School of Social Work community who are experienced social work practitioners with reputations for excellence in the areas they teach and usually take place online.

The Sioux City program offers students unique opportunities to meet the needs of the everchanging populations in the Siouxland region and beyond.  It seeks to connect students with a wide variety of learning opportunities and practicum placements supported by our alumni community and local leaders.

Administered by the University of Iowa’s School of Social Work, the Sioux City MSW program is conveniently located on the beautiful campus of Briar Cliff University and is celebrating over 25 years of partnership in the region.  It is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
