The Des Moines MSW Program is the leader in distance-education programming, offering the longest-running and largest program of all our sites.

Built for students who want a University of Iowa degree but also want to continue living and working in central Iowa, meeting the workforce needs of hospitals, schools, nonprofits and local and state government, the program plays a vital role in the community.

Housed at the John and Mary Pappajohn Education Center in downtown Des Moines, our Des Moines MSW Program offers students options to complete the program on a full-time or part-time schedule. Most classes take place in the Pappajohn Center classrooms, with the option to complete some online. UI faculty who live in central Iowa teach most of our courses, but students may also take some classes taught by adjunct faculty, who hold MSW degrees and can offer unique practice expertise.

The Des Moines location offers the graduate Master of Social Work degree.
